Since I am a vegetarian for more than 10 years and have visited numerous vegetarian outlets in Singapore. I decided to keep a record of the pure vegetarian eateries I have visited in Singapore and Johor Bahru to share with my readers.

 

My intentions of starting this blog is to share my vegetarian and vegan recipes and where to buy the most value-for-money ingredients that are slightly uncommon with readers, hence I do not wish to clutter my recipe blog with too many posts about the various vegetarian outlets to visit. Therefore, I have compiled some of the pure vegetarian outlets I have visited in Singapore on my Facebook, in this one single album, it is arranged accordance to locations in Singapore for easy reference when you are at or going to a particular estate.

♥ Pastamania - Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurant in Singapore

Why I Love Here:

Pastamania is literally available at most shopping malls in Singapore and super vegetarian-friendly! When there are no vegetarian-friendly eateries or pure vegetarian stalls around, I will go to this Italian cuisine eatery. The food is reasonable priced and the casual dining ambience is pretty good. My omnivore friends can have their feasts while I enjoy mine.

Coming here is like dining at fast food joints where you can have your combined meals, but in Italian style. Their menu is very vegetarian-friendly ranging from soup, bread, pasta to pizza. You can sign up as member at $15 per year, and you will get back $15 cash voucher for dining plus 15% off for ala-carte menu, and on your birthday you get 25% off 6 days before and after your birthday. Great deal, isn't it?

What To Take Note:
All cheese contain rennet. Natural calf rennet is extracted from the inner mucosa of the stomach chamber of slaughtered young, unweaned calves. Read more about rennet. Many vegetarians are concerned about the rennet used in their cheese, whether it is from vegetable or animal rennet. A email-conversation with the Relationship Manager from Pastamania confirmed that anything listed on the vegetarian menu in Pastamania is fully vegetarian including the cheese, which is free from animal rennet.

Take note that when most menus stated "vegetarian", it does not mean it is free from onion and garlic. It simply means it is free from animal meat and parts. Usually it does contains diary or sometimes eggs.

 

The minestrone soup is vegetarian including most tomato based pasta. If you are ordering the fries, wedges or onion rings (at whatever restaurants you are at), always ask this very important question: does the kitchen use the same pot or oil fryer to fry these fries together with other meat stuff like wings and calamari?". If the answer is yes, I will not order any dishes that it is fried together with the animals, and that is a strict no-no for me.

 

If you are a vegan, choose the tomato based pasta and Aglio Olio (garlic & olive oil), you will never go wrong. However, when I'm at dining out, I cannot bring myself to order plain Aglio Olio pasta, firstly it is all carbohydrate and no veggies at all, that doesn't found very healthy to me. Next it is too pricey for a bowl of carbohydrate. Thus I make my own Vegan Mushroom Aglio Olio Spaghetti at home. Pastamania uses the brand Barilla for their pasta which I love, thus I used this brand of pasta at home, it is readily available at supermarkets, or you can buy this online at Amazon.

♥ The Soup Spoon - Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurant in Singapore

Why I Love Here:
The Soup Spoon is located at almost every malls in Singapore, thus this eatery comes in handy when I couldn't find any vegetarian food at the mall I am in. The price is pretty reasonable, the casual dining ambience is to my liking, and for the same reason: my omnivore friends can have their meat while I enjoy my vegetarian dishes! There are endless vegetarian options here, from salad, soup, wrap to sandwich. Two of my favourite dish are the mushroom soup and the Asian Tofu Salad, do try it!

Why I Love Here:
This vegan-friendly place sells everything about laksa! From traditional laksa soup noodles, laksa fried rice, laksa goreng to laksa hotpot, how cool is that?! I can enjoy my vegetarian laksa dishes while my friends have their meat laksa.

Why I Love Here:
The pan pizza is great, and the pasta is Al dente. My friends can have their meats while i have my great vegetarian dishes, love it! I do not need my friends to accommodate my diet 'cos Pizza Hut is everywhere!

I have wrote to Pizza Hut and it has been confirmed by them that the cheese used is vegetarian friendly, it is free from calf rennet and is made from microbial rennet. Why I Love Here:
A famous seafood restaurant that you will never thought vegetarian could get anything decent. I always bring my oversea clients to this restaurant, where i can have my dose of good food while they have their seafood, perfect!  There is even a special vegetarian menu, please ask the captain for it.

♥ (TCC) The Connoisseur Concerto - Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurant in Singapore

Updates on July 2014:

TCC has changed and shrank their menu, and it is not as vegetarian-friendly as the past. Many dishes I have stated below are no longer available, sob. Accordingly to them, they change their menu every 6 months, hopefully they stay competitive and remain vegetarian-friendly in this menu.

 

Why I Love Here:
So many vegetarian options on the menu! Price is pretty reasonable too, perfect place to chill out with your friends with dessert & coffee after your main course!
